August is always a great time of year for Rock the Earth – it’s the “traditional” end of summer but our “Summer” Education & Outreach Tour is not even halfway done!
The thing that we’re most excited about right now is the start of our work with Foo Fighters on their massive U.S. Tour, while the rest of our regional teams continue to educate and activate in Colorado, in the Mid-Atlantic Region and in NYC. Meanwhile, our legal and technical folks have been quite busy this month, working up comments to the long-awaited EPA study of fracking’s impact on water resources and continuing to spread the word about the need to protect more wilderness along Colorado’s Continental Divide.
In this issue, we also wrap up another amazing year of activation at the Arise Festival, feature some rare commemorative memorabilia up for charity auction, give you tips about how to be greener as you or your children prepare to go back to school in our monthly Key of Green article, and clue you in on our latest membership benefit: a discount with the organic clothing company, Synergy. Finally, we wrap up this August edition of Rock the Earth Notes by thanking our hard-working volunteers.
September will be bringing more Earth-shaking fun and frolic, environmental protection and activism, but until then, dance on, hike on, camp on, or do whatever floats your boat as summer starts to turn to fall.
