OUR MISSION
Rock the Earth is a national nonprofit environmental organization dedicated to protecting and defending our natural resources through partnerships with the music industry and environmental community.
Rock the Earth acts as advocates to ensure the existence of a sustainable and healthy environment. We aim to represent those individuals and communities whose environment or natural surroundings are directly and adversely affected by others.
Rock the Earth is a tax-exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
Founded in 2002 by environmental attorney Marc Ross, Rock the Earth’s Volunteer Staff include environmental attorneys, technical consultants, public relations, marketing and media relations experts, as well as a fundraising team. Many of the members have more than twenty years experience in their various areas of expertise.
Rock the Earth’s Volunteer Staff also includes environmental professionals with a broad base of knowledge and expertise in environmental science and law. Among this group, four are practicing environmental attorneys. In addition, Rock the Earth has other environmental attorneys consulting on a variety of issues and outside counsel who vigorously represent the organization in litigation matters. Our environmental legal and technical expertise includes, but is not limited to: water quality, surface and underground mining, hazardous and non-hazardous waste, remediation, air quality, energy development and extraction, endangered species, remediation and environmental impacts due to land development and urban sprawl, engineering, toxicology, geochemistry, environmental sampling and analysis, risk assessment, pollution prevention, and analysis under the National Environmental Policy Act. Combined, our legal & technical Volunteer Staff have nearly 100 years of experience.
The remainder of Rock the Earth’s members are all informed, passionate, and active in environmental advocacy and education. They include the owner of a Silicon Valley public relations firm, a former radio producer, a New York investment banker with experience in the energy markets, a teacher and school counselor, a band manager and agent, and a transactional attorney with experience working with nonprofit organizations.
