Project Description

Rock the Earth stands against the destruction and selling off of our nation’s public lands to the oil and gas industry

Right now, our nation’s public lands lands are under unprecedented attacks from President Trump and Secretary of the Interior Ryan Zinke. The administration has made deep budget cuts for the Department of the Interior, which manages many of our parks, public lands, and resources.  And now, after a sham “review” of nearly 30 national monuments, the administration plans to remove protections from at least two: Bears Ears and Grand Staircase Escalante.

Rock the Earth is committed to protecting our public lands and waters and strongly believe America’s parks and heritage should be protected and celebrated, not sold off to corporate special interests. We understand keeping public lands protected is about sustaining wildlife and natural areas, but also about benefiting local economies and communities and promoting diversity and inclusivity in our system of public lands.

We were proud to join nearly 3 million people across the country last summer in urging the Trump administration not give our protected lands away to the oil and gas industry and will continue to fight any efforts to eliminate protections for these incredible outdoor landscapes and cultural and historical sites.

This summer, Rock the Earth will travel and engage with festivals like Bonnaroo to increase awareness of threats to our public lands and rally activists to protect these majestic places. In partnering with artists, musicians, and their fans, we aim to demonstrate the tremendous public support our outdoors enjoy and share the stories of the local communities who have worked to protect these special places.
