It’s been an exciting month for our hard-working touring team, starting with the fact that we have a new Tour Manager, Bear Yovino. No stranger to working for good causes in music, Bear jumped onto the RtE van with both feet on the Wheels of Soul Tour with the Tedeschi Trucks Band and Sharon Jones & the Dapkings, before guiding our team on the very limited (and incredibly special) tour by old friends Railroad Earth backing up long-time supporter Warren Haynes in support of their new collaborative album together, Ashes & Dust. Just last weekend, the new team of Bear and rockin’ new interns Kelsi Bowes and Ally Rogers got down to business at the annual Peach Music Festival outside of Scranton, PA, where not only did we continue our work with RRE and Warren Haynes, but also got to see Gregg Allman, Bob Weir with Billy & the Kids, Planet Defender Award winner Willie Nelson, Santana, and Lotus. Then it was onto the BIG tour of the summer…
We’re always excited when we get to start work with a band with whom we haven’t worked before. That was the case last year when we started work with Rodrigo y Gabriela and again last month when we joined the Primus with Dinosaur Jr. tour. But it’s been a while since we’ve been able to announce working with one of the biggest bands in America and that happens now as we joyfully announce that we’re working with Foo Fighters. Starting last weekend in our hometown of Denver could not have been sweeter – we educated and activated the Foos’ fans about our work to preserve wilderness along the Colorado Continental Divide before hitting the road with our touring team that will take us through the Midwest throughout the rest of the month before heading back to the west coast in mid-September.
Speaking of Colorado, we’ve been keeping busy. Over the past few weeks, our local team kept busy activating fans of bands as varied as Danzig, the Steve Miller Band, the String Cheese Incident, Alt-J, and Pretty Lights, while taking to the hills to work a couple Vail Bluegrass shows with Steep Canyon Rangers and Grant Farm. We also had a HUGE presence at the 3rd Annual Arise Music Festival (see details below).
As the summer continues to heat up, so does our education and activation work as we rock on into the fall.
