Rock the Earth and the LA-band Incubus have been long-standing partners over the years. In 2007, Rock the Earth first conducted environmental education and outreach at a series of Incubus shows in the midwest. In 2008, the band’s Make Yourself Foundation awarded Rock the Earth a $10,000 grant in support of our education and outreach program — the single largest grant that we had received to date at that time. In 2009, Rock the Earth awarded the band with the annual Planet Defender Award (Artist). Since that time, we have continued to look for ways to work together.
All of that came full circle this summer when the band returned to the road with a huge summer tour that included a very ambitious social and environmental consciousness-raising project. The band, in collaboration with Propeller, a customized platform to support causes, selected Rock the Earth to be one of a couple dozen charities to be featured in their summer campaign. Participants who join one of Rock the Earth’s social networks (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram), become members of Rock the Earth, sign up for our newsletter, and/or watch a video, gain points towards prizes — including a Grand Prize of a trip for two to Las Vegas to see and meet the band during the two-night stand at The Joint in the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. We couldn’t be more proud to renew our relationship with this very special band and we hope you will support their efforts to spread activism through their social media networks and yours.
